BT’s line rental costs have risen rapidly in recent years. Gavin Patterson, Chief Executive of BT plc has announced at the February 2016 conference, that all the phones will be IP in the next nine years.
All forms of fixed and mobile telecommunications will be combined into the single IP network.
What Is SIP Trunking?
SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is a VoIP connection which replaces the traditional ISDN line to communicate with fixed and mobile telephone users.
ISDN vs SIP
With SIP about to surpass 50% market penetration, is your business ready to take full advantage of switching from ISDN to SIP?
5 Compelling Reasons To Move Your Phone Lines To SIP trunks
For most businesses the conversion of their phone lines from the old copper ISDN to the new VoIP SIP is now a certainty but there are compelling reasons why you should do it now:
1. Cost savings
SIP trunking is 30-50% cheaper than ISDN lines and the costs are likely to stay fixed for your contract term meaning the gap will get even wider.
2. Numbering
With BT ISDN lines you are constrained by a rigid network that only permits the use of a number to receive and dial out, from your local area telephone exchange. This means every site has a differing number. With SIP you are centrally connected to the telephone network and can have any UK area telephone number, at any site.
3. Call Quality
You can have HD quality speech and the quality is that good new users comment on how the other person “sounds like they are in the same room as you”.
4. Resilience and business continuity
With SIP your numbers can be at any site and you can have multiple connections. This avoids any kind of circuit failure and if there is a major fault calls can be automatically divert to a cloud based menu and delivered to multiple mobile phones retaining full service.
5. Integration
SIP is an IP based call service that can travel across your existing computer network (with the appropriate switches in place). This means computers can lend a hand in queuing, recording, dialling, logging and integration into your desk top applications with ease.
