
Midland Telecom successfully defuses Guhring Ltd emergency situation

When a 500lb Bomb was discovered on their doorstep in Aston, Birmingham, Guhring Ltd along with other Midland Telecom Customers and Local Residents were immediately evacuated at an instant notice.
This caused huge disruption for the entire North Birmingham and everyone commuting in from this direction as the A38 Expressway, M6 J6 and Trains were closed for over 48 Hours. This was extensively covered in the news but what wasn’t mentioned and sometimes Businesses fail to plan for, is the “Disaster Recovery” and what to do in this or similar situations when you are removed or evacuated from your premises at an instant notice. It isn’t important at the time but soon after you need to think about how this affects your Business and Customers trying to contact you.
The shocking news is that according to recent statistics over half of UK SMEs don’t have a disaster recovery plan in place to protect their business against telecoms outages, network outage and other IT disasters and of the SMEs that do have systems in place, 83% admit their preparations are ‘less than excellent’*.

Using Cloud Services opposed to Openreach Lines this was setup instantly and solely controlled by Midland Telecom at a moment’s notice.
