Ethernet First Mile
Making use of EFM as part of a network solution offers considerable cost savings because it uses very low cost copper pairs rather than expensive fibre. It provides up to 10Mbps (<3km from the exchange), with the advantage being it bundles up to 5 copper pairs from the exchange to a premises to attain the bandwidth throughput. If any of these pairs "go down" then the service will rate adjust to a lower speed based on the remaining circuits, rather than failing completely, providing excellent resilience.
Guaranteed bandwidth - no contention 10Mbps upstream and downstream - ideal for head office connections and supporting remote or homeworkers EFM can generally be delivered in 35 days - compared to the months sometimes associated with new fibre installs
As an award winning business internet service provider and one of the first partners to offer BT's Wholesale Ethernet services, Midland Telecom can provide EFM connections to the internet or incorporate them into a PWAN, giving you far more freedom in the type of circuits you can build into your network design.
At the same time you will also benefit from considerable cost savings due to the use of copper pairs rather than fibre throughout.
Midland Telecom can offer its customers a high degree of network resilience provided through twin Gigabit Ethernet fibre connections from the BT 21CN cloud into diverse locations, then into Midland Telecom's core network. With greatly reduced lead times and flexibility in bandwidth selection, Midland Telecom can provide EFM connections to the internet or incorporate them into a PWAN, providing businesses with far more freedom in the type of circuits they can build into a network design.
As one of the first providers of BT's Wholesale Ethernet services, Midland Telecom customers benefit from a high degree of network resilience provided through twin Gigabit Ethernet fibre connections from the BT 21CN cloud into diverse locations, then into Midland Telecom London MPLS ring. EFM is an exciting proposition in 21CN-enabled exchanges around the country.
Midland Telecom are fully set up to deliver EFM in addition to circuits for SDH, Framestream, Ethernet, SDSL/ADSL, ADSL2+ and 3G (wireless). Midland Telecom also has direct connectivity with BT Wholesale, BT Openreach, Virgin, Global Crossing, Claranet and Cable and Wireless, notwithstanding our links to transit providers and peering exchanges such as LINX. EFM from Midland Telecom is a cost-effective, exciting new service that will quickly allow businesses to make the transition to next generation network technology, and introduce new converged applications based on IP.
